India is placing a strong focus on green hydrogen as an alternative to fossil energy sources and is rapidly developing a comprehensive green hydrogen ecosystem across the country. As this transition will require access to international technologies and expertise, significant new opportunities are emerging for German companies seeking to develop and expand their business activities in India.
Against the backdrop of these developments, Markus Hoffmann-von Wolffersdorff connected the German hydrogen association HZwo e.V., based in Chemnitz, with the Pune Hydrogen Valley and initiated discussions on establishing a strategic, long-term partnership.
These discussions led to a fact-finding visit by an HZwo e.V. delegation to Pune from 23 to 26 February 2026. During the visit, valuable personal and institutional relationships were established, and the German delegation met with several partners and stakeholders from the Pune Hydrogen Valley.
In addition, the first HZwo–Pune Hydrogen Valley Summit was held on 24 February 2026, bringing together around 40 companies and institutions from the Pune region. Markus Hoffmann-von Wolffersdorff delivered a presentation on the political and institutional framework for Indo-German cooperation in the green hydrogen sector.
The delegation visit marked a successful first step towards establishing a long-term partnership and strengthening Indo-German cooperation in the field of green hydrogen.
