Industry expertise

We know your industry — on both sides.

Market entry does not succeed on general knowledge, but on an understanding of the industry. These are industries in which we have worked, built and advised ourselves — in Germany and in India.

Industries

Industries in which we have been active for a long time.

Machinery and Plant Engineering

India's manufacturing sector is growing — and needs European precision.

With “Make in India” and large-scale infrastructure programmes, demand for high-quality machinery, automation and process technology is rising — from the process industry to Indian textile machinery manufacturing, which has long been among the world's leading. For German machinery builders, India is at once a sales market, a production location and a sourcing base.

  • Our practiceSetting up production, joint venture management and BIS certification for machinery manufacturers; first-hand technical management of Indian plants (Eike Dölschner, ex-HEROSE/Wilo/KSB) as well as twenty years of textile machinery experience in India (Armin Huck, Master of Textile Engineering).
  • Typical questionsSite selection, local manufacturing depth, supplier qualification, standards compliance, service network.

Automotive and Suppliers

One of the largest automotive markets in the world — in transition towards electric mobility.

India is one of the three largest passenger car markets worldwide and a global centre for two-wheelers and small cars. The shift to EVs and local content requirements are changing supply chains — opportunities for suppliers that establish a local presence early.

  • Our practice25+ years of leadership experience in the automotive and luxury goods industries (including Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Aston Martin, Fairline) directly within the team (Thomas Kastgen).
  • Typical questionsOEM access, localisation strategy, Tier-1/Tier-2 partnerships, quality management on site.

Consumer Goods and FMCG

A growing middle class is changing consumption — brands need to position themselves now.

Hundreds of millions of consumers are moving into segments with real purchasing power; from fashion and apparel to electronics, premium and branded products are growing disproportionately, and e-commerce and quick commerce are changing distribution. Those who understand the regional differences will win.

  • Our practiceinternational brand and leadership experience in FMCG and luxury goods, permanently resident in India for more than ten years (Thomas Kastgen); sales and marketing strategy (Prof. Dr. Stefan Wengler); apparel production and sourcing (Armin Huck).
  • Typical questionsBrand positioning, building distribution, price architecture, choice of retail partners.

Information Technology and E-Commerce

India's digital economy is growing rapidly — from IT hub to global innovation location.

India is one of the largest IT and digital locations in the world — with a rapidly growing e-commerce and fintech landscape. For German companies, opportunities arise in IT outsourcing, digital sales and technology partnerships — combined with high regulatory complexity in areas such as data protection, digital payment systems and media law.

  • Our practicemany years of advisory experience in digital technology, internet and media law, e-commerce and digital advertising, fintech, digital payment systems as well as NFT and blockchain models (Lekhesh Dholakia, Advocate & Solicitor).
  • Typical questionsBuilding India-specific e-commerce structures in B2B and B2C sales, digital marketing in India, secure digital payment systems, outsourcing of IT services.

Energy

Green hydrogen

Green hydrogen is one of the largest infrastructure projects in India's energy transition.

Green hydrogen is at the centre of this energy transition — from solar and wind capacity as the power source through electrolysis to conversion into ammonia or methanol and export by ship. German energy technology meets a politically supported, heavily funded market here.

  • Our practiceMarket entry strategy along the hydrogen value chain, partner search and cooperation with authorities and institutions — also through our network in chambers and associations (HZwo, GIRT).
  • Typical questionsFunding landscape, tenders, local-content requirements, consortium partners, export logistics.

Training initiatives and skilled-worker recruitment

Meeting the skilled labour shortage — with training that is recognised in Germany.

German Mittelständler are struggling with the demographic shortage of skilled workers — particularly in the metalworking trades. We open up access to Indian ITI and Polytechnic graduates who are trained in a practice-oriented way and with German language skills. After two years of training in India, the candidates complete their final training year at the company in Germany and sit the final examination there with the IHK — so the qualification is recognised from the outset.

  • Our practiceDirect access to selected Indian ITI and Polytechnic institutes, including German language training up to level B2; possible links to association initiatives such as the VDMA.
  • Typical questionsIHK recognition, cooperation model with associations, intake capacity at the company, language level and preparation time.
